Australian Hockey League 2017: Men’s Team Qualify for Top 4, Women’s Team Earn 1st Win

Following the footprints of the first Indian team to participate in Australian Hockey League (2016), India A team has qualified for the medal round winning the last group stage match today. With 2 wins, 1 draw and a loss India A Men’s team finished second behind New South Wales who won all the four matches. In the second round, they will play against top 2 teams of other group to have a shot at Finals. Women’s A team finished 4th in the group and will play three teams of other groups for 5th-8th place qualification matches.

Indian Junior National team participated in 2016 Australian Hockey League. They topped at pool stage with 4 wins and a draw. But, they lost the semifinals on shootouts and then the Bronze medal match also to finish 4th.

Good Day for India A teams at Australian Hockey League today in the 4th and last matches of League stage.
India A Women team registered their first win of the league as they defeated Tasmania by a solitary goal, scored by Sangita Kumari in 19th minute.
India A Men team registered their second win of the league defeating Australian Capital Territory 2-0 with goals from Affan Yousuf in 5th minute and Armaan Qureshi in 46th minute.

Yesterday, on October 2 both played their third match of league stage. India A Women team lost third consecutive match, vs South Australia 1-3.
India A Men team drew against Northern Territory. Mohammad Umar scored the only goal for India in 6th minute.
