India@CWG: Indian Medals at 1982 Commonwealth Games

Syed Modi International Challenge

Indians increased their tally in 1982 Commonwealth Games to 16 medals from previous 15. Weightlifting competed in the race of Indian tally, but India’s best since 1958 Commonwealth Games, Wrestling contributed the most medals again with 8 out of 16 medals. India won 5 Gold, 8 Silver, 3 Bronze. Syed Modi emulated Padukone with a Badminton Gold, Weightlifter packed a punch and Shooting squad announced arrival with first medals. Boxing was the fourth sport to earn a medal for India while Athletics failed to contribute.
